Unmarked motorbike to promote safety message

Roads policing officers in Thames Valley have a new tool to help them in their efforts to spread the road safety message.

A brand-new Honda CB1000R will be appearing at motorcycle events, dealer open days and biker meets throughout Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

The bike has been loaned to the Force by the manufacturers to encourage motorcyclists to speak to officers at events.

Insp Bob Jarrett, from the Thames Valley Police roads policing unit said:

“The bike will not be used operationally while it is on loan.

“However, Honda added a number of carbon fibre accessories to it and it will be ridden by motorcycle-trained officers to events so that bikers can check it out.

“When it is not being used by us, we will also be offering it to other Forces nearby to take to events in their areas.

“Honda will be carrying out the servicing of it, so it is not costing the Force anything and it gives us another tool in our efforts to push the safer rider message.”

The bike will be appearing next at H’s café, Oxford Road, Berinsfield on Sat Sept 19.
